Meet Your Adventure Guides
Hi! My name is Melissa McCraren and I recently graduated from Northern Michigan University and spending the summer doing what I love best: hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, playing in Mother Lake Superior and exploring the Keweenaw. I’m originally from Illinois but I’ve called the U.P. my home for the past nine years. In my spare time I love to rock climb! I’ve climbed down in Kentucky (at Red River Gorge), Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee and Michigan. I eventually would like to head out west to do some bigger climbs, (think of the Citibank rock climbing commercial). I am WFA, CPR and first aid certified and have lifeguarded for eight-plus years in many different water environments. I look forward to being your guide and sharing my passion for the outdoors with you!
Hey, I’m Cam, and I’d love to be your guide this summer! I can’t wait to show you around the mountain and the lakes, but until then here’s a little information so you can get to know me. This fall I’ll be starting my junior year at Michigan Technological University for pre-med. While up here in Houghton I’m involved in ski patrol at Mount Bohemia and I also play trumpet in the pep band at tech. Some of my favorite activities include biking, rock climbing/rappelling, telemark skiing, and volunteering at the hospital. I hope to see you up here so that we can learn more about each other, but more importantly so that I can help you have a great trip up here in the copper country!
Graduated from Michigan Technological University and familiar with the Keweenaw and the lay of the land, you may even call Michelle a local now as she has made the Keweenaw her year round home and playground. Michelle was involved in MTU’s Outdoor Adventure Kayaking clinics and is proficient on the paddleboards even being able to pull off a few yoga moves while gliding over the bay of Bete Gris. She is CPR and First Aid certified and has a love of the outdoors.
Steve is a keweenaw native and one of the pioneers of Bohemia’s pre-lift days. Using his extensive knowledge of the mountain he designed and cleared virtually all ofth e present day Bohemia gladesn da backcountry runs as well as navigated the current hiking trails on property. His backround includes a career in emergency medicine, extensive experience backcountry skiing all over out west, many years of X-C ski and mountain bike racing, sea kayak guiding on Lake Superior and several years ski patrolling.
My name is Robyn Dendel and I grew up in Harbor Springs, Michigan just below the Mackinac bridge. I have spent all my summers at my cabin in the Les Cheneaux Islands of Lake Huron. I enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding, mountain biking, skiing, and climbing. I love being on the water and I hope to share my passion for adventure with the people around me. Previously I have worked as a ski school instructor at Marquette Mountain where I taught the younger generation the art of being super rad skiers! Now that I have had my snow experience I cannot wait to start this new adventure with Mount Bohemia!
